Art Walk at Fábrica La Aurora
By Jade Arroyo
On October 5, the art and design center Fábrica La Aurora invited the whole town to an art walk through its galleries and ateliers. The art walk is a celebration of what Fábrica La Aurora is, a reminder of all the wonders to be found within its walls.
The Art Walk is a tradition at La Aurora and is held the first Friday of every month. It provides a perfect excuse to visit the galleries and shops once again, or to go there for the first time to enjoy the wide range of art and design on display and for sale. Like many other art districts in the world, the different galleries organize collective openings, offering wine and refreshments to visitors. The fact that you have so many galleries to stroll through, so many different worlds to see, so many interesting artists to meet, so much beauty around you and friends to chat and laugh with, makes it very attractive. Here and there you could see people from all over, getting acquainted with each other, old friends running into each other, sharing a great time.
The art and design center is housed in a former textile factory. Among industrial machines, hydraulic turbines and old cotton storage rooms, leftovers from the factory’s once-grand past, the galleries are beautifully situated. OMO, Alquimia 4, Manuel Chacón, Alebrije, Espacio Carral and Dee Ropers are just a few of the many galleries and shops housed in the old factory.
