In the spotlight: Edward Swift

Edward Swift is a novelist and visual artist who was born in Texas but spent
most of his life in New York City before relocating to San Miguel. He
creates wood boxes that serve as proscenium arches for displaying enigmatic
figures made of papier-mache, wood, fiber and found objects. He is best
known for his munecas, small androgynous figures that represent nightmares,
clowns, forgotten gods or inmates from an open-door asylum.
